On our return from Perth, we went straight into running a week of comic-making workshops organised by our friends at the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF).
A group of talented Indigenous creatives from remote NT communities joined us in Mparntwe. The week started with a visit to the Alice Springs Desert Park, getting up close with the many animals that call arid Australia home. This experience inspired the stories participants brought to life in their comic pages.
On the final day, friends of Pamela Lofts joined us to celebrate the power of illustrative storytelling. This ILF program was supported by the Pamela Lofts Bequest Fund. Pamela Lofts (1949-2012) was a nationally renowned artist and a much-loved children’s book illustrator who lived in central Australia for much of her adult life.
Each participant took home a comic broadsheet of their work.
We look forward to creating stories with this awesome crew of creatives in the near future.
